Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 June 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how AuctionQR may collect, use, store, disclose and protect information when you access or use the AuctionQR website and live auction tools. AuctionQR is designed to collect only the information reasonably needed to create, run, secure and improve live auctions.

1. Information we collect

The information collected depends on how you use the service.

Auction and host information

Bidder and bidding information

Technical, security and usage information

2. Information stored on your device

AuctionQR may store host or bidder access tokens, auction codes, participant information and similar data in your browser's local storage or session storage so that the auction can continue working without requiring account login. Anyone with access to the same device or browser profile may be able to access the auction role stored there. You can clear this information by clearing your browser data.

3. How we use information

We may use information to:

4. What other users may see

AuctionQR is a live auction tool, so some information is intentionally visible to hosts, bidders or the public screen. For example, a host may see bidder nicknames, bidder numbers, bids, timestamps, winning bidder details and sold-item prices. Bidders and the projector screen may see current bids, final prices and winner identity according to the auction's display setting.

Do not use a nickname or upload content that you do not want visible to other participants in the auction.

5. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with:

6. Payments

Unless a future feature expressly states otherwise, AuctionQR does not process bidder payments or collect payment-card details for auction purchases. If hosts collect payment outside AuctionQR, that payment arrangement is between the host and bidder and may be subject to the host's own privacy practices and the payment provider's terms.

7. Cookies and analytics

AuctionQR may use cookies, local storage, analytics tags or similar technologies to operate the service, remember device state, measure usage, improve pages and protect against abuse. If Google Analytics or another analytics provider is enabled, that provider may process usage information according to its own policies.

You can control cookies and storage through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect auction functionality.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, support hosts, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and improve the product. Hosts should export important auction results promptly after an event.

After an auction has ended, hosts may use the privacy cleanup option to delete that auction's items, bids, bidder records, results, access tokens and uploaded item photos from the active application database. We may also delete old draft auctions, ended auctions, uploaded images, logs or other data after a reasonable period. We may retain limited records where needed for security, legal compliance, backups, dispute handling or abuse prevention.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, such as access controls, hashed recovery codes, prepared database queries, rate limits and server-side bid validation. No website or internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, lost, altered or disclosed.

10. International use

AuctionQR may be accessed from different countries and may use service providers that process information in countries other than your own. By using the service, you understand that information may be processed where AuctionQR or its service providers operate.

11. Your choices and requests

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of certain information. Hosts may also request deletion of an auction or uploaded content where technically and legally possible. Some information may be retained where necessary for security, legal compliance, backups, fraud prevention or dispute records.

Privacy questions or deletion requests can be sent to contact@auctionqr.com. To help us locate the relevant data, include the auction code and explain whether you are the host or a bidder. Do not send sensitive documents unless requested.

12. Children's privacy

AuctionQR is not intended for use by children without appropriate adult supervision. Hosts are responsible for ensuring that their event and bidder participation comply with age, school, charity, venue and local legal requirements.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted means you acknowledge the updated Privacy Policy.

Important: This Privacy Policy is a practical website policy template and does not replace advice from a qualified lawyer or privacy professional. If you operate auctions involving charities, schools, children, regulated goods, payments or multiple jurisdictions, you should obtain advice for your specific situation.
